The Rum Diary Movie With Johnny Depp

Director Bruce Robinson is working on The Rum Diary, a movie adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s novel. The film can boast an impressive cast: Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Richard Jenkins and Giovanni Ribisi. Filming began in Puerto Rico in March 2009. The film is expected to be released in 2010, but no official release date yet.

Here below a few pictures from the set of the Rum Diary, with nice pictures of Johnny Depp:

"The Rum Diary follows Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp), a divorced alcoholic and struggling novelist who decides to kick around in San Juan until his ship comes in, working as a journalist for a newspaper that’s on its last legs, drinking gallons of rum and experimenting with LSD. With his new friend Bob Sala by his side, Kemp becomes entangled in a corrupt hotel development scheme with a slick PR consultant named Sanderson."

I haven't read Hunter S. Thompson’s original novel yet, but knowing that Johnny Depp has been interested in playing the role of Paul Kemp makes me want to read it. I trust Johnny Depp's taste! From the premise of the film and looking at the pictures above, I feel like the Rum Diary movie is going to be interesting.
